Our mission at Lifeway is to provide a safe, secure, structured, and supportive atmosphere for the youth so they can become productive members of society, notwithstanding the many challenges they may have faced in life. Our role at Lifeway is to give everyone we serve the best chance at success in their future endeavors.

Mission

Purpose

At Lifeway, we strive to support our clients with mental health or substance abuse disorders the best chance to succeed in the community and life in general. Our attractive setting provides a low-stress and friendly environment that nurtures our residents’ personal growth with utmost respect and dignity. Lifeway will provide residents training and coaching in leadership, life, and communication skills, coupled with the ability to make the right decisions as they begin to discover a new approach to life. Our individualized programs for each resident are tailored to enhance their quality of life in a less restrictive environment, while at the same time nurturing their growth, independence, dignity, and personal life choices. In turn, we believe at Lifeway that this will generate peace of mind for their families and loved ones. We aspire to provide the best treatment options for our residents through collaborative efforts with other organizations and disciplines.

Our Program

Lifeway is a very special group home for the youth facing mental health illness and behavior issues. In our home, we promote healing and growth in a structured environment where we offer a unique combination of services for the residents.

What We Provide

A Place to Live

  • Pleasant, spacious and attractive residential group home in a quiet community where residents can learn and participate in tasks of daily living.
  • Clean environment with onsite healthy, fun, relaxing and recreational activities
  • Transportation for community participation, such as school, medical facilities and recreational activities.

A Place to Belong

  • Social groups to foster healing.
  • Support in developing independent skills, including housekeeping and community interaction.
  • Supportive and highly trained staffs where every resident is supported by a team of providers including psychiatrists, therapists and medical personnel.

A Place to Grow

  • Personalized, purposeful programs for each resident to enhance growth
  • In house activities, therapeutic outing and meal planning.
  • Onsite support and coaching from trained behavioral health staff with an excellent resident to staff ratio, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Our Team

Dr. Sabina Benel

Executive Director

Over the past ten (10) years, Dr. Benel has held a variety of roles within the mental health field, ranging from direct care to medication management. Dr. Benel’s dedication to individuals suffering from severe mental illness and their families led her to obtain a Master’s Degree in nursing specializing as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner from the University of Cincinnati and a Doctoral Degree in Nursing (Doctor of Nursing Practice) from Grand Canyon University.

Dr. Benel has extensive knowledge in treating and supporting individuals with mental health disorders. As Lifeway’s Executive Director, Dr. Benel strives to implement mental health best practices to ensure all residents within its homes receive the best treatment possible while upholding the residents’ dignity and well-being.

Admission Process

Coming to Life-way Homes:

To ensure a cooperative and peaceful environment, Lifeway residents must meet the following admissions criteria:

  • Evidence of current psychiatric care where the applicant is determined to have a level of stability suitable for the community
  • Ability to attend to all activities of daily living, including personal hygiene
  • Ability to function in a small social community.
  • Reasonable physical health.
  • Absence of actively addictive behavior.
  • Absence of violent or suicidal behavior and;
  • No history of criminal sexual misconduct.

In addition, to complete the admission process, Lifeway requires

  • Current and complete psychiatric history and hospital records
  • Current physical exam, TB test and tetanus shot (within 5 years)
  • Interview with the admission committee and;
  • Complete an intake form which is attached

Lifeway ensures that all candidates are evaluated by consistent standards and in an unbiased review process, screening and interviewing each applicant following the review of all attainable records and referral information.

The admissions process at Lifeway is generally geared toward admitting people who will benefit from our home environment and are willing to participate in our therapeutic environment.
